![]() ![]() Only six shadow cabinet members (19.3%) have shared one or more of the controversial ads, while 12 members (39%) have shared Sir Keir's Daily Mail article, but none of the ads. They include Shabana Mahmood, the party's national campaign coordinator, and Steve Reed, the shadow justice secretary. However, only two members (6.5%) of his top team have shared all three of the attack ads. In an article for the Daily Mail today, Sir Keir refused to back down in the face of huge backlash, writing that he "stand by every word Labour has said on the subject, no matter how squeamish it might make some feel". The first accused the prime minister of not thinking people convicted of child sexual assault should be jailed, the second saying that he doesn't think people convicted on gun possession with intent to harm should be jailed, and the third saying he doesn't think thieves should be punished. Three controversial ads have been published on the Labour Party's official Twitter feed since Thursday. Of the 31 members of Labour's shadow cabinet, 13 (or 42%) have not shared any of the party's controversial attack ads criticising Rishi Sunak's record on tackling crime, nor his Mail article standing by them.
